Latest news from the Safer Roads Partnership

New community concern site at Ashperton in Herefordshire: The Safer Roads Partnership in West Mercia has launched a second mobile speed enforcement site in Herefordshire (Monday 22 February) as part of a new pilot scheme aimed at addressing concerns from local residents about speeding and road safety issues.

The site has been launched following significant levels of concern from the community about the speed of traffic on the A417 through Ashperton. Speed data collected at the village shows that over 85% of drivers using the road exceed the 30mph speed limit with 15% driving above 45mph.

Rod Reynolds, Head of the Safer Roads Partnership, comments: "More than four out of five drivers using the road through Ashperton are exceeding 30mph and it is hoped that the presence of a speed camera van will significantly reduce this number and make the roads safer for the local community."
