The Safer Roads Partnership was launched on 1 April 2007 and was created by a range of public sector agencies. These include local highway authorities, the Fire & Rescue Services, the Police, the Courts and NHS Primary Care Trusts. The aim of the Partnership is to make roads in the region safer for all users through speed enforcement and by seeking to change attitudes and driving behaviour. Prior to 1 April 2007, speed enforcement was administered by the Safety Camera Partnership in West Mercia.
Although the operation of speed camera sites across West Mercia - which is made up of Worcestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin - remains an important part of our work, we work closely with partner agencies to coordinate, support and develop a broader road safety strategy. This includes building stronger links with local council road safety teams and other agencies to tackle the major safety priorities across the region and to work together on a variety of road safety projects and campaigns.
